About hypnosis
What does hypnosis feel like?
Most people describe it as deeply relaxed and focused, a little like the moments just before sleep. You stay aware of what’s happening throughout.
Will I lose control?
No. You remain aware and in control, and you can open your eyes and come out of trance at any time.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Most people can experience trance, though everyone experiences it differently. If it hasn’t worked for you before, it may simply be that the approach didn’t suit you.
I’m very analytical. Can I still be hypnotised?
Yes — analytical minds are a speciality of mine. Rather than asking you to stop thinking, my approaches give your mind something interesting to engage with.
What if I don’t feel anything happening?
That’s common, especially the first few times. Trance can be subtle. Keep listening without judging how it’s going — many people find it deepens with practice.
Recordings
Where should I start?
Discovering Relaxation is designed as a gentle first step. The Start Here page has more tips.
How do I get a recording?
Do I need headphones?
Headphones are recommended because they help you focus on the voice, but a speaker works too.
What if I fall asleep?
That’s completely normal, especially if you’re tired. You’ll still find it relaxing, and you can listen again whenever you like.
How often can I listen?
As often as you like. Many people find a recording becomes easier and more enjoyable each time.
Is there a free recording I can try?
Yes — join the mailing list on the free sample page.
Interactive & seasonal experiences
What is an interactive experience?
Something you take part in rather than simply listen to — making choices, playing along or exploring at your own pace. Each one explains how it works on its page.
Why do seasonal experiences disappear?
They’re made for a particular time of year, so they’re available for their season and then rest until it comes round again. Join the mailing list to hear when they return.
Live sessions
How does a live session work?
We start with a short conversation about what you’d like, then your session, then time to come back gently. See how it works.
How much is a session, and how do I book?
Prices are on the pricing & booking page. To book, fill in the booking form and I’ll reply by email.
What do I need for a session?
A quiet, private space and somewhere comfortable to sit. There’s a full checklist on preparing for your session.
Safety
Is hypnosis a replacement for therapy or medical care?
No. My recordings and sessions are for relaxation and personal development, and aren’t a substitute for medical or psychological care.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t use hypnosis?
If you have epilepsy, a psychotic illness or another serious health condition, or you’re receiving treatment for a mental health condition, please speak to your doctor first. See the disclaimer.
Can I listen while driving?
No. Never listen while driving, operating machinery or doing anything that needs your full attention.
